Administration of WetlandsSydney HarbourThe bed of Sydney Harbour and its tributaries is publicly owned land vested in NSW Maritime. The agency’s jurisdiction extends from a line drawn between North and South Head westward to Charles Street, Parramatta including Middle Harbour, the Lane Cove River and Duck River. This body of wetland includes areas of reclamation and covers approximately 317 kilometres of harbour foreshore with an area of 5,255 hectares. Botany BayNSW Maritime owns the foreshores of Botany Bay and the gateway to the Georges River, from the eastern side of the Captain Cook Bridge along the foreshore of Brighton Le Sands to the mouth of the Cook River and along Silver Beach and Taren Point. Newcastle HarbourNSW Maritime has ownership of the bed of Newcastle Harbour from the entrance breakwaters to the Stockton Bridge on the Hunter River North Arm to the Tourle Street Bridge on the Hunter River South Arm. For more information regarding wetland leases, please contact
Port KemblaNSW Maritime has ownership and control of the bed of Port Kembla. The moorings and berths at the boat harbour is administered by NSW Maritime’s Wollongong Regional Office.
